Texas Shetlands

Hello Everyone! Brand new to this site and am so glad to have found it. I am hoping to add Shetlands to our new family farm - moving there very soon! But . . . . I don't see any breeders/etc in Texas. I think my first question should be why? Is there a reason there are no (or few) Shetlands here? Is it too hot and/or humid? We will be in right in the middle of 4 regions of Texas - about 100 miles from Dallas/Ft Worth. Any advice if my sheep would be OK here?

Help! Newbie question

My daughter purchased her first lambs yesterday, 2 adorable shetland ewes. We put them in an area where our pygmy goats were previously. A place our goats never got out of before, well they pushed until they got out. 2 hrs later and they were caught. The white one went into a swampy area and is a mess! They are unharmed but messy. Is there anything we need to do for them? I am trying to contact the breeder they came from but have not gotten a response. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciate… Continue
